Welcome to the Midway ISD
Bond Steering Committee Website!

The Midway ISD student population is growing. This summer, the District hired a third-party demographer to study and forecast student enrollment for the next five to 10 years. Approximately 800 students are projected to enroll in the next five years, and about 1,700 students are projected to enroll in the next 10 years. Based on that information, the Board has decided to call a May 10, 2008 bond election to include, among other potential items, a new elementary school and a new intermediate school.

To understand the realities of our current educational and support facilities in use today, an architectural firm was then hired to do a district-wide facility assessment of each campus and study them in terms of overall condition, architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural systems, and code, ADA and TEA compliance.

In October 2007, an 18-member citizens' committee, comprised of a cross-section of our community and representing a wide variety of interests, was formed to work closely with the school district and its consultants. They have been charged to study in great detail the Facility Assessment performed by the architectural firm and presented to the Board of Trustees on November 20,2007. Over the course of four meetings, the BSC will meet and discuss the assessment and determine what the facility priorities of our school district should be. The BSC will then make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees as to what additional projects to include in the bond election.

This website is designed to keep our community up-to-date as we move toward the bond election. On this website, you will find the Demographic Report, the Facility Assessment, a list of BSC members, initial cost estimates, meeting agendas & minutes and presentations given to the BSC. We welcome any comments or questions at any time! A list of BSC meeting dates have also been posted.
